Director for Student Success Named a 2022 Outst和ing First-Year Student Advocate

丽兹·卡斯蒂略爆头CY-0.jpgSt. Philip’s 大学 Director for Student Success, 伊丽莎白·卡斯蒂略, was recently recognized by the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience 和 Students in Transition as one of 10 national recipients of their Outst和ing First-Year Student Advocate Award.

Recipients will be formally recognized during the annual Conference on The First-Year Experience, 预定在奥兰多举行, 佛罗里达, 2月. 12-15, 2022.

“自从来到圣. 菲利普学院2017年, Castillo has been an integral member of the Division for Student Success where she serves as the Director for First-Year Experience Programs. Castillo has leveraged innovation to foster a culture of civic engagement, 生涯探索, 校园参与. She uses her underst和ing of first-generation 和 community college students to produce initiatives that strengthen the first-year community 和 promotes student retention. Thanks to her collaborative approach first-year students are provided with the wrap-around support services needed to drive academic achievement 和 personal development,” 博士说. 命运C. Castillo oversees several key initiatives at St. Philip’s 大学 that are critical to the success of First-Year Experience students. She serves as the Chair of the New Student Convocation program (Tiger Nation Family Day), oversees the engagement 和 support of AlamoPROMISE Scholars, supports 和 assists every member within the unit of Educational Support Services, 和 works hard to accomplish the goals of her department.

In addition to First-Year Experience, Castillo oversees the St. Philip’s 大学 Financial Literacy, Service Learning, 和 Tutoring 和 Technology Services. These functions require routine collaboration with Academic Deans, 老师的椅子, 和 community stakeholders as she works to develop experiential learning opportunities 和 resources for students. 在她任职期间, she has also worked to promote ethical decision-making as the Chair of the Quality Enhancement Plan.

在她15年的职业生涯中, Castillo’s work has focused on advocating 和 supporting underrepresented students in Higher Education. She holds a Bachelor's of Arts from Sul Ross State University 和 a Master's of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University.
